Lesson 5:

Checklist to get started

We understand that we have given you a large volume of information, and you may not know where to begin. We also understand that not all of you who are doing this training have enough decision-making capacity to influence the direction of your services.

We have prepared a checklist for you to get started.

These are the questions that can begin conversations in your services, facilitate reflections on your progress and hint towards the areas for change. If you do not have a decision-making capacity, still have these conversations with your colleagues and leadership. Change comes when we seek it.

We encourage you to engage with the checklist with curiosity and an open mind. We understand that not all services have capacity and resources to implement all areas of the checklist. While the questions can be scaled up and down, we hope that you recognise the importance of these changes.

You can engage with these questions as a part of this training online. If you do choose to engage with them now, review each area and question carefully. Use calculated scores to highlight strengths and pinpoint where additional efforts are needed to create an inclusive, affirming, and culturally safe environment for LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people.

For better user experience, after you click start, enter into the full screen mode. This button is located in the top right corner.
Use the toggle to switch between maps. Each map has explanations below.

The downloadable version excludes automatic scoring.

If you work in an organisation that is not safe for its LGBTIQA+ staff, let alone clients, please prioritise your safety before sharing this framework with unsupportive leadership.
