Roadmap for Action
Justice for LGBTIQA+ Displaced People
In Australia, LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people continue to face inequity, discrimination with their settlement needs remaining largely unmet.
We need a united and collective voice of supporters and leadership of those with lived experience to tackle these inequalities.
We are creating a Roadmap for Action to achieve asylum and migration justice for LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people
The Australian Coalition for LGBTIQA+ Asylum and Migration Justice
The Australian Coalition for LGBTIQA+ Asylum and Migration Justice has been set up to advocate nationally in Australia for systemic change to reduce disadvantage and marginalisation of, and achieve positive settlement outcomes for LGBTIQA+ people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants. The Secretariat functions are delivered by the Forcibly Displaced People Network with funding from Pride Foundation Australia.
The Coalition membership consists of:
- Groups or organisations led by LGBTQIA+ people seeking asylum, refugees and other forcibly displaced people
- LGBTQIA+ forcibly displaced community leaders
- LGBTIQA+ organisations including philanthropy, service and advocacy groups
- Refugee, asylum seeker and multicultural organisations
Announcing the Roadmap for Action
The Roadmap for Action aims to establish a collective, cross-sector, and comprehensive approach to achieving asylum and migration justice for LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people. It is intended for use by all levels of government as well as social and community services. The recommendations within this Roadmap are designed to align with the Department of Home Affairs Refugee and Humanitarian Entrant Settlement and Integration Outcomes Framework, as well as the National Settlement Outcomes Standards established by the Settlement Council of Australia.
We are preparing to launch the Roadmap for Action. Don’t miss this significant event!
