Bridge to Safety

Bridge to Safety is a new national program, delivering dedicated support for priority processing of humanitarian visas for LGBTIQA+ people from Asia and the Pacific facing persecution.

FDPN is leading this program in partnership with Refugee Advice & Casework Service Centre (RACS).

LGBTIQA+ refugees around the world face systematic discrimination and are excluded from safe resettlement options.

As an LGBTIQA+ refugee-led organisation, FDPN provides safe, community-led support. We screen referrals, assess risk and urgency, and coordinate with trusted legal and local partners. Where relevant under Australian Government policy, FDPN may act as a proposer.

Who can get support

Bridge to Safety is for LGBTIQA+ people from Asia and the Pacific who:

  • Face serious harm and persecution linked to their sexual orientation, gender identity and expression or sex characteristics
  • Experience intersectional discrimination and violations of human rights
  • Cannot safely access local protection or service
  • Are living outside their country of origin
